Adept

An initiate or occult master; one who has gained profound magical powers and insights through initiation.

In the theosophical system, adepts form part of the Great White Lodge, a group of mystical leaders who guide the world and its inhabitants through processes of spiritual evolution.

The magical Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn had four ceremonial grades of adept: Zelator Adeptus Major, Theoricus Adeptus Minor, Adeptus Major, and Adeptus Exemptus, associated with grades of initiatory experience on the Tree of Life.
